Since its establishment on February 22, 2006, the National Communications Commission (NCC) has been the authority responsible for regulating telecommunications and broadcasting services.

In order to assist the domestic telecommunication industry and build a good environment for domestic accreditation/certification, the NCC amended the telecommunication related regulations and appointed ETC to handle the accreditation of telecommunication terminal equipment since January 1, 1991, opening up a new page for private organizations to engage in product certification business.

Items for the certification :

• Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN): Telephone sets/automatic alarm equipment/telephone answering machines/fax machines/remote control devices/wireless main and secondary sets for corded telephones/customer-owned switches/key telephone systems/computer telephony integration equipment/data equipment (including ADSL and VDSL terminals)/caller ID terminals/2.4GHz radio-frequency telecommunication terminals
• Public Land Mobile Network (PLMN): Radio Caller System Terminal Equipment / Mobile Data Terminal Equipment / Relayed Cordless Telephone Set / GSM Mobile Phone Set & Terminal Equipment / 1880~1895MHz Wireless Private Switch & Terminal Equipment / DCS1800 Mobile Phone Set & Terminal Equipment / Third Generation Mobile Communication Terminal Equipment / Wireless Broadband Access Mobile Station Equipment (WiMAX) / Mobile Broadband Mobile Station.
