Traditional farming methods have seriously polluted the environment and endangered human health through the excessive use of fertilizers and pesticides to increase productivity. The long-term use of large quantities of chemicals has resulted in acidification and salinisation of the soil and deterioration of soil strength, as well as destruction of water resources and eutrophication of water.

The ecological environment is also heavily polluted with the accumulation of persistent organic pollutants and heavy metal residues, which endanger the living space of various organisms.

In accordance with Article 14 of the Fertilizer Control Law of Taiwan (R.O.C), the quality of fertilizers manufactured or imported shall conform to the provisions of this Law, and the authorities in charge of standard inspection may carry out inspection.
